Winter is circling

The first day that I was off galivanting in California brought the first snow fall here.   No remnant remained through that weekend and tropical storm Ida made it warm and practically lush again the weekend I returned. But now the cold is beginning to settle, like coals in a hearth–cracking, almost dark, with a red underglow (at both dawn and dusk).  There is little wind, as yet (knock wood).

And the hole in the street grows wider and deeper and continues to be fed with dynamite blasts….
