Back in Halifax

After a day and half of hiking around Highlands National Park, we made the return journey to Halifax.  In our absence, a couple significant events have occurred:  the university students have returned (and it was Saturday night) and it seems that the egregious pit in the intersection South and South Park has been mostly restocked with gravel.  It’s not closed–and there is still a trench leading north from the intersection, but it’s a start in the right direction.

On my last day of work before vacation, Tracey had provided me with the most amazingly large cucumbers.  Getting home has inspired me to come close to cooking, so I took a quick trip to Japanese Food Paradise, the unexpectedly complete Japanese grocery on Barrington, bought what was in order and came home to make this.
