Easter in the Maritimes

This is my first here, as last year I took advantage of the four-day holiday to go visit Bob and Fred in Berkeley.  There’s no newspaper (although the Sunday paper, unlike in the States, is barely a ghost of info) and, of course, there’s a reduction services on offer.  Today happens to be grey and damp, with snow forecast for the afternoon.

But the runners are out in packs, choosing to don dyed egg colours in honour of the day:  we saw about 15-20 of them going full tilt, sporting orange, turquoise, purple, yellow, poppy and, of course, robin’s egg blue, as they dashed past the cemetery where big baskets of flowers–and dyed eggs–decorate the graves.

Fred’s gone “home” to Scotland (per Canada Border Services, at his arrival, that’s where he officially lives).
