A gem

During my early morning coffee at the Coffee Cabin, I continued reading an anthology of new manga that’s come my way. While the whole is nicely pulled from a variety of sources, with a variety of themes, styles, and origins, what I found this morning has stayed with me twelve hours later: a perfect gem.

Asia Alfasi‘s jiman, “Beginnings” tells (within the requisite 6 pages) the story of a young girl in Scotland, longing for home in Libya, comforted by discovery of manga locally. Add to this the American reading this in a Nova Scotia coffee shop and the cross-cultural energy fizzes like a diamond.
