Special features

I’ve come home to hear a neighbour complimenting Bob on his chair. Given how hipsterly impressed he was, I have to imagine that it’s the hand chair that has wrought the remark. this chair has become so much part of our personal landscape, but there was a time when it looked remarkable to me as well.

Now, what seems most recently remarkable is the stunningly large hole being dug into the intersection of Lucknow and Fenwick. Like the hand chair, the hole’s size is disproportionate to my previous experiences of reality. Not only deep but also broad. Not only broad but also long. The giant Komatsu shovel working on it might well be able to submerge itself in the open space the digger’s creating.

It’s all in the name of bringing natural gas to Halifax. Given the city’s explosive past, there are people who don’t trust the innovation. As for me, I don’t trust the new warning sign eminently nearer to my house than this pit: it warns of construction to come.

The question changes with each log-on…tornado of talent seems to be a frequent one….Others you can figure out just thru random guessing.
