This weekend’s reminders that I am not in the US

By halifaxing

1. Perk’s, a coffee shop chain that has about the same wares and “style” (!) as Tully’s, sells Lagavulin by the shot. (The whiskys are listed on the menu board but the only thing I ever buy at Perk’s is the occasional newspaper when I am running late for the ferry on a workday).

2. The anti-shoplifting sign at Needs warns customers to leave their kit bags at the counter.

3. The buskers in Victoria Park are morris dancers and

4. the fast food truck pulled up near by sells fish and potatoes to snack-seekers.

5. The young guy busily hosing and scrubbing down the Ultramar sign is hanging from his specialized cleaning truck on which the various cleaning businesses it performs are listed only in French.
